About Us

My photo
We are both retired. Built a house near a beach in Mexico to spend the winter away from the cold and snow. Have another home in Washington on the Pend Oreille River where we spend the summer. We divide our time between the two homes.

Careyes and El Tecuan

Tom was told there was an art museum in Careyes.  So we did an outing with our friends.  There was a museum, but nothing in it.  We still found some interesting items.

This horse was made out of paper mache.

This statue had holes drilled into the sides and back.  Looking to the inside of it there were lights and my friend figured out that the holes made up the constellations.  It must look beautiful at night.

From Careyes we drove to El Tecuan.    There is an abandoned hotel.  A lot of history behind the land and hotel.  If interested there is a site giving more information:

The beach is pretty rough and it is not recommended for swimming.

You can look to the beach one way and to the estuary the other.

The walkway to one half of the hotel has collapsed.  But look at those huge logs that were holding up the walkway roof.

You have to imagine what the fountain would have looked like.

Most of the hotel has been ransacked and not many tiles left.  But here was one shower with a few tiles.

Graffiti on a couple of walls.
