About Us

My photo
We are both retired. Built a house near a beach in Mexico to spend the winter away from the cold and snow. Have another home in Washington on the Pend Oreille River where we spend the summer. We divide our time between the two homes.

The mad rush has begun.

We are running out of time.  There are so many things still needing to be done.  The exterior plastering needs to be completed so the painter can finish.  Doors & windows need installing, so we may close up the house before we leave.  Many of the interior items will have to wait till we return in the fall.

The plastering can be an adventure on how to reach some of the house.  Here a worker lays on a board to try and reach the corner of the house.

Ceetu doesn't mind the mess and clutter.  He is right at home.

The second time for the counters.  The tile in the background will be the back-splash.

The stairs to the roof.... a step just a bit small.  Another do over!!!

The bathroom might actually get to a point we can use it.

The cement mixer hasn't been used in over a month.  Trying to get it unstuck and moved to the road so it can be returned.

The doors and windows have been delivered.  Now they have to be installed and then hopefully the glass installer can arrive.

Starting to get nervous, we only have 2 1/2 weeks before we need to leave, so we don't turn into pumpkins and visas expire.

First Day of Spring Parade

Perula is a small town so you won't see elaborate celebrations.  But, there are still parades.  This one was celebrating the first day of Spring.

These ladies in the front, as I understood with my very limited Spanish, are the school teachers.  The kids were from kindergarten thru third grade.   I believe some of the siblings were also included in the parade.  The plaza was the end of the parade and then the kids went on stage to do some dancing.  I think there was some practicing before hand, but at this age it is hard to get them to cooperate.

A break from house building

Scott and Jodi came for a visit.

The weekly market in Melaque.

A trip to the crocodiles.  A bridge that swayed as we crossed to get to the other side of the estuary

This is the malacon in Puerto Vallarta and one of the streets.

There are many status on the malacon.

You can just see the top of the church.  We didn't have time to explore further.  Will have to be a trip for the fall.

We took a trip with some friends to Tenacatita.

This beach has been in controversy since 2010.  Last year we tried to visit and were turned away by the military.  They charged to cross their check point and said it was too late for us to visit.  This year the guard station has been removed and people can once again enjoy the beach.  Many of the homes and restaurants were destroyed during the contraversy.

The garbage being hauled via pick-up.
Trucks hauling sugar cane to be processed.
